I Have to Have It!

Oh Friday, I have been waiting for it all week! I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow, have a leisurely breakfast, and then head to NH to see my bestie Briar :)

Tomorrow night is date night for the boy and I (usually it's Friday night but tonight he is going to see Bob Seger at the Garden for which I am achingly jealous). We are going to a new-to-us restaurant called Bosphorus in Cambridge, so expect to see a review next week!

Last night (and actually most of yesterday) I was CRAVING some vegetarian sushi (I swear I'm not pregnant). Ever since I had it last Wednesday night at Fuji 1546, I have wanted it again. After scouring yelp for a good half hour trying to find a decent sushi place in my area that had a good variety of vegetarian sushi and coming up short, I decided to convince the boy to head to Whole Foods for dinner. This goes back to my (lack of) ability to save money. We had plenty to eat at home, but when a craving hits, nothing else will do.

Because the boy is indecisive, I had my vegetarian sushi and my plate from the hot bar picked out before he had even chosen one thing. I offered to split my hot bar plate with him since I got the sushi:

We split grilled pineapple (a must-get at the hot bar) and the apple crisp. The mac n cheese was all mine. For some reason, I really really love the mac n cheese at Whole Foods hot bar. The boy got his own mac n cheese because he knew I wouldn't share.

For my sushi I selected the avocado and cucumber rolls:

I ate three pieces and saved the rest for my lunch today. I can't wait to dig into them! The sushi was good, but obviously not as good as the sushi I had at Fuji. As far as supermarket sushi goes, it was pretty much what I expected. It ebbed my craving a bit, but I will still be trying to convince the boy he will like it so we can go to an actual sushi place to get it (I have made no progress on that as of yet). Boys are stubborn and picky.

It's funny because I'm very much a patterned eater. I will eat the same things over and over again until I get sick of them, rather than incorporating a variety of foods into my diet. I will probably drag the boy and my friends to Whole Foods or sushi places as often as I can until I can't eat sushi anymore.

Do you tend to eat the same things over and over again until you get sick of them or do you try to change things up often?

  1. eat the same thing till i get sick of it, which happened with oatmeal, turkey sandwiches, and carrots.

  4. I do the same thing! I OD on foods until I am sick on them and then don't touch them again for a loooong time :)

  5. I definitely repeat meals and food. I go through phases, and I'll eat something until I'm sick of it.

  6. I used to love the mac & cheese at WF, I don't love it anymore but I like a little bite of it. I do still love their mashed potatoes! For other foods, I usually can only eat the same thing for 2-3 meals, unless you're talking about pizza and cheese fries. I can eat those foods any day, any time.

  7. Now you've got me thinking about sushi, haha. I may have to get some this weekend. I try to mix things up so that I don't get sick of things, but I'm not good at it. I'll find something I like a lot and then just eat that until I'm over it.

  8. I do like to mix things up, but I definitely have my old standbys. When we can't think of what we want for dinner, we usually order sushi!

  9. Mmm...Whole Foods hot bar. :)

I tend to mix up my meals so I don't usually get sick of them - unless I make a huge batch of chili or something and then am forced to eat leftovers.

  10. I eat the same things over and over. I've been craving chili lately and I saw that Nourish has it so I might get that tonight! I never crave sushi. I'm also not pregnant.

I will get sushi with you when he won't :)

  12. i try to change things up, but once i find something i really like, its very hard. breakfast is always the same for me for about 2 years now: whole wheat english muffin, natural peanut butter topped with a cold banana. i can't get enough of it.

  13. I eat the same things every day for breakfast and lunch. But dinner is another ball game. I'm not a picky eater so I am the worst when it comes to deciding.

Now on to the Mac N Cheese at whole foods. I could live off theirs. It's so simple but something about theirs, I crave it all the time. I actually got the cheeseburger mac n cheese last week and haven't stopped thinking about it since. :(

  14. When it comes to eating out I'm usually very adventurous, but at home I eat the same things over and over - mainly to save money. There are a few restaurants where there's one thing I love and I can't bare to order anything else though.
And I've only had the WF mac once, but it was remarkable. I can't wait to live near one.

  15. I totally overdo it on certain foods, then hate them. Oatmeal is one! I hope Bosphorous was great, I have heard good things!
