The Hostess with the Mostest

Hey guys! So yesterday was weigh in day as you know, here are the results:

Starting weight: XXX
Week 1: -1.2
Week 2: +0.2
Week 3: -1.0
Total lost: -2.0

So clearly, when I'm being good, I lose a pound a week. I would like to be losing 2, but I think if I work out anymore or restrict my food any more than I do, I might go crazy. Plus I'm training for a half marathon.

Speaking of the half marathon, I pulled a calf muscle Tuesday night in a non-running related incident. It really really really hurt. Therefore, my scheduled 4 easy miles for Tuesday got pushed back to Friday. I plan to do the 2 mile loop around my house twice. I have speedwork tonight, so I'm hoping things go well. I'm going to do a lot of stretching of my calf before and after. I may take my 2 miles off the calendar for Saturday and just rest. Injuries scare me.

Aside from my weigh in and calf trouble, last night was a first for me. It was my first time hosting a dinner party!

I invited my lovely friends Danielle, Kristen, and Emily over for a delicious dinner, some wine, and gossip.

For appetizers, I made up some caprese skewers (cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and kalamata olives) and set out some buffalo chicken dip (supplied by Danielle).

Oh and of course there was wine.

Dinner was eggplant manicotti (recipe coming tomorrow) that was AMAZING.

For dessert, I made carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (recipe to be posted next week).

We had a great time catching up and enjoying all of the delicious food. And of course I had to take a drunken self portrait, because that's how I roll. I may have had 3-4 glasses of wine. On a random Wednesday night. I'm a champ.

Have you ever hosted a dinner party?

  1. I hope that your calf feels better soon! I'm super scared of injuries, too.

Your dinner party looks amazing. I've really only had one dinner party (with non-family members, that is). I need to get on that. :)

  3. I just typed a long comment but I guess I didn't hit the button enough times :( Hope your calf feels better! That is where I always end up getting injured.

I would love to host dinner parties but right now I don't have a big enough table.

  4. Dinner looks awesome! Making those little skewers looks so fancy even though they are easy to throw together. I'll have to make those soon!

  6. Thats a cute pic of you :)

Your blonde friend looks exactly like one of my friends here in Charlotte-I had to do a double take!

I never host dinner parties because I dont even have a dining room. Much less a kitchen table. It would be way awkward. I can't wait to see the recipe for manicotti.
